He said they made progress here with numerous international business group, they are also working with the International Forestry...asked if these partnerships involved profit--Isamil Serageldin--he confirmed that it is indeed for profit which is why the various entities would participate.
Sandstrom:
--There are many groups--CEO's of all major Multinational corporations to learn from them how the Bank can do a better job, and also to learn in terms of the renewal of the bank.
-- We are working with Chief Executives of the major forestry companies around the world to learn how we can do a better job on forestry and their expertise.
--We are working with Civil Society and NGO's--trying to forge links between them and the business executives.
--One forestry we had combined meetings with CEOs and NGOs. We are establishing a commission on large dams with the CE's of construction and power companies and NGO's representative of civil society. there is a wide range of efforts.
JV: Partnerships have several different levels. Serageldin said there is always a profit. Will that be so in the partnerships you have just mentioned?
Sandstrom: I think the driving [force] is to do a better corporation and good corporations see that a good social side to their activities, a good environmental side is key to long-term profits. It all comes together in a constructive way in the end.
